In order to eliminate some of the waste time spent traveling to and from work, I bought myself a Strida bicycle.
A Strida is a very small bicycle that can very quickly be folded and carried on the community train. It has a single gear and no gears, but it is much faster than you think. Above all, its the funniest thing I've bicycled for a very long time.
With a folding bike, I don't have to take the busses any more eliminating two places were I otherwise had to wait for a bus.
Here's what it looks like (although it's not to be considered an off-road bike at all):
