Vässarö is a European Scout Centre . It´s situated in the northern archipelago of Stockholm, Sweeden . We Stockholm Scouts own this Island that is something unique in scout Sweeden.
This article collects some of my different photo sets from Vässarö, mainly as staff member.
Background
Vässarö is runned by scouts in order to make an extraordinary place for youth to grow. The island is 'open' six months a year with the eight summer weeks being the peak.
During the summer weeks the staff grows to about seventy people running the island and some years even more when we have big camps. In 2006 we had both the Swedish sea scout camp Sjöstjärnan directly followed by Stockholm Scout Districts camp Strandsatt followed by the Swedish Muslim Scouts camp. In 2008 we had Boomerang 2008. In 2009 we had Stockholm scout district camp Mysteriet .
We also have schools coming to visit and we have special camps for younger kids. We have handicaped people coming to the island every year and we have special camps for children born with heart problems. And much more...
International scouts
Every year Vässarö have a bunch of international scout on the staff. Vässarö also have many international groups coming to camp on our island.

Two weekends at Vässarö when we prepare the island for the summer season . Perfect weather for getting things done. We did some work on the trapper trail, continued working in the chapel with sound and light, we repaired the wilderness trail and we enjoyed life in the outdoors getting things done.
Weekend at Vässarö when we started preparing the island for the summer season. Perfect weather for getting things done. We made some corrections to the new rope bridge, drilled some holes in the rock in some remote places as part of future challenges along the wilderness trail. We also started major maintenance on the disco equipment.
