IBM has annonced a partnership with MySQL. How could once the little MySQL projects so effectively have grown to be a serious alternative IBM DB2 software?
This is cool because the stoneage old human act of sharing seems to be more powerfull than ever. Perhaps it is because the good old community always will be at the heart of society. Maybe our time is made to be dominated by communities.
And I havent even started to tell the success story of GPL, FSF, Linux kernel...
Most people in the computer industry knows this. Professionals working with business model knows how important it is to deliver value.
If communities are becomming the major social institution of our time, delivering value by sharing to the community will indeed be a powerfull.
Maybe no big news, but the scout movment needs to rediscover this ASAP.
