The latest news today http://www.svd.se/nyheter/inrikes/artikel_567599.svd about the Pirate Bay people working on new software makes me wonder: supose you put a decent hacker in soft jail for two years. Is this going to inhibit him from doing what he already is doing (creating a new P2P protocol) or are we giving him time to focus on the task? I say soft prison because financial convicts are usually placed in very open prisons. Or perhaps they get an electronic foot-strap forcing them to stay at home all day by their computer. Which of course would be very different from...?
